Events are special periods of time where specific Pokémon can be caught. The first of these events was the Halloween 2016 Event.
Events have a special type of Pokémon which has increased spawn rate, in place of the common Pokémon such as Rattata and Pidgey. For example, the Halloween 2016 Event had Ghost-type Pokémon spawn at a higher rate.

This event lasted from October 26th, 2016, to November 1st, 2016.[1]
Community Day[]
Incense Day[]
Incense Day[2] is an event focusing on the use of Incense in-game. With previous days, Pokémon featured throughout the day will appear more frequently through the use of the item. With the first-ever Incense Day on April 19, 2020, Sentret was featured throughout the entire event with other Pokémon being featured every hour. Features during this event include Incense lasting longer than usual, Shiny Pokémon being more common, and event Pokémon being more common.
Timed Research Events[]
Timed Research Events were first introduced in May 2020 with the special event Throwback Challenge 2020: Kanto Timed Research[3]. These events are similar to Special Research but are unique as they expire after a certain period of time. Five of these events were announced and run through May 202 to mid-June 2020.
Raid Hour[]
Raid Hour is a monthly event where a legendary Pokémon is featured in Gyms across the globe. This event takes place in the player's local time zone.

Tricky Pokémon[]
The Tricky Pokémon event[4] was an event featuring Pokémon with a tricky/prankster personality on April 1, 2020 from 8:00am to April 7, 2020 at 10:00pm local-player time. Such Pokémon include Sudowoodo, Ghastly, Voltorb, Ditto, Foongus, Croagunk, and others. This event introduced Stunfisk for the first time and introduced the Pokémon into the wild after the event ended. This event also introduced the shiny form of Coragunk and Sudowoodo.
