Shiny Pokémon are extremely rare variants of Pokémon that differ in coloration from their normal appearance. These color variations may range from minor color adjustments to completely altered palettes. From the map, Shiny Pokémon will appear with their normal coloring until tapping on the Pokémon, meaning players will only discover if a Pokémon is shiny or not from the encounter screen. From the encounter screen, a burst of stars and a shiny icon will display, along with their shiny coloring during the encounter.
Once captured, an aura of stars will appear from the Pokémon on the summary page, along with an icon marking them as shiny. Once a player captures a shiny Pokémon, their Pokédex will unlock viewing the shiny variant of the Pokémon.
Obtaining[]
Shiny Pokémon can be encountered in the wild, Raid Battles, and other methods of play. A Pokémon's shiny form can only be encountered if it has officially been released. Normally, evolved stages of Pokémon cannot be caught shiny, including Pokémon evolved from Baby Pokémon (except Pikachu, Chansey, Mr. Mime and Roselia).
