There are currently three teams, team Mystic, team Valor, and team Instinct. The teams are represented by the original three legendary birds: Team Instinct is yellow and is represented by Zapdos, Team Mystic is blue and is represented by Articuno, Team Valor is red and is represented by Moltres. The player is unable to select a team until they reach level 5 where they can then go to a gym and will be prompted to select. Players can continue to play without selecting a team but will not be able to take part in gym battles. Once a player selects a team they are currently unable to change teams.[1]
